Maggio!
Well, I’m approaching the end of my trip abroad and I’m not sure how I feel about it! I miss home and can’t wait to see friends and family, but I have started to feel at home here in Florence- it’s going to be difficult to leave. My roommates and I are making lists of all of the things we still need to do and I feel like it’s going to be impossible to get through it all. I have made such good friends here and it’s going to be really hard to say goodbye, especially since we all live so far from each other. That’s why we’re going to make the most of the next few weeks!
As many of you have heard, I will be traveling to Africa for two weeks before I head home to Philadelphia. I was invited to join a research trip with my mentor from Senior Projects in high school, Dr. Kathleen Ryan (a scholar at the UPenn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology). I have worked with Dr. Ryan on and off since graduating and was so excited to receive the invitation to participate in this trip. I will be giving more details regarding the itinerary in another blog entry, but I just wanted to update everyone on my plans. I will be traveling to Kenya from Florence, staying in Africa for approximately two weeks, flying back to Florence and then catching a flight home to the United States. I am currently wrapping up my classes and preparing for departure! I am so excited that I have had such a great experience here and that my trip will continue a little longer than originally expected. I will be receiving a blog URL from the group I am traveling with and we will each be updating our site. When I receive that link, I will post it here so that you can all see what we are doing in Kenya.
I don’t know how many more blog entries I will be posting here seeing as I’m going to be so busy in the next 12 days, but keep checking back!
